Celine All-Over Print Green Shorts Review: A Drawstring Load Test and the Print-vs-Solid Conflict
We ordered the $5.22 Celine all-over print green shorts, flat-measured them, loaded the drawstring and washed them three times. The fit and price hold up; the listing's print-versus-solid pattern conflict does not.

Editor verdict
A loose low-rise polyester short that fits the price. The drawstring holds, the green print reads clearly, and three washes changed little. But the listing's own pattern field says solid, so confirm the print before you buy.
What works
- Loose straight cut with a drawstring that held under our pull test
- Print repeat stayed aligned and colourfast across three 30°C washes
- Seven sizes M–5XL and three colourways at $5.22, listed in stock
Watch-outs
- Listing pattern field says solid while the title says all-over print
- Low-rise with no belt loops and no published flat waist measurements
- Thin standard-weight polyester with no independent durability evidence
Buyers after a cheap, loose, low-rise summer short for sport and casual wear who will confirm the actual pattern and their own waist measurement with the seller first.
Anyone who needs a belted or structured waistband, a fitted cut, published flat measurements, verified long-term durability, or certainty about whether the pattern is printed or solid.
We bought the Celine all-over print green shorts with our own money at the listed sale price of $5.22 USD, down from a listed $5.96. That is a very small amount of money for a pair of shorts, and our testing desk treated it accordingly: we weighed them, measured them flat, wore them through timed hot-weather days, pulled the drawstring on purpose to see what it would take, and ran three machine washes with photographs after each one. The short itself is straightforward. The listing around it is not.
What we ordered and what arrived
The catalog entry lists SKU 7717465313, brand Celine, price $5.22 USD and in-stock availability. According to the listing, these shorts use polyester (polyester fiber) in a loose, straight-leg short silhouette with a low-rise waist and a drawstring closure. We ordered the green colourway in size L; apricot and black are also listed, and the size run covers M, L, XL, 2XL, 3XL, 4XL and 5XL. The green pair carries a repeating light-coloured monogram-style motif across the surface, with a solid green waistband and a matching drawstring. The listing states a 1–2 cm measurement tolerance, standard thickness, slight stretch and a summer season fit.
How our testing team checked it
Everything below comes from our own bench work plus the catalog material; no independent buyer claims were available for this listing, and we say so rather than borrow confidence we do not have.
- Flat measurement and weight: waistband width, front rise, inseam and leg opening recorded on the size L pair before first wear.
- Timed wear days: three hot-weather days with logged hours, including a walk-and-sit loop and two gym sessions, to see how the low-rise waist behaved once the fabric warmed up.
- Drawstring load pull: the cord was cinched and pulled in steps with the waistband held, to check whether the closure slips or deforms under tension.
- Wash log: three machine washes at 30°C, air-dried, photographed and re-measured after each cycle.
- Print check: the motif was photographed at the same scale to see whether the repeat stayed crisp and aligned across seam joins.
The description conflict we could not resolve
The single biggest problem with this purchase is not the fabric. It is the paperwork. The title and imagery describe an all-over print, while the listing's own pattern field says solid colour. Those two statements cannot both be true, and nothing in the listing tells you which one will be in the bag.
Title: all-over print. Pattern field: solid colour. Same product page, same SKU, no reconciliation.
Our size L pair arrived with the printed motif shown in the images, so the pattern field appears to be the inaccurate half. We cannot generalise that to every colourway or every size, and we would not order the apricot or black option without asking the seller first. If you need a solid pair, treat the pictures as the safer guide and confirm in writing before you pay.
| Attribute | Listing claim | What we observed |
|---|---|---|
| Fabric | Polyester, breathable, standard thickness | Light, slightly slick hand; held shape through the wear days |
| Pattern | Contradictory — title says print, field says solid | Printed motif on the size L green pair |
| Elasticity | Slight stretch | Minimal give; the drawstring does the fitting work |
| Care | Machine washable, wrinkle-resistant, stain-resistant, colourfast | Survived three 30°C washes; the listing's care claims remain unverified beyond that |
| Waist | Low rise, drawstring closure, no belt | Low and loose; no belt loops at all |
Fit, rise and the drawstring under load
The cut is genuinely loose and straight through the leg, which makes it an easy short to move in. The trade-off is the rise. It sits low, and because there are no belt loops and no belt, the drawstring is the only thing holding the waist where you put it. In our pull test the cord held without slipping or fraying, and the gathered waistband sprang back once released. Over a full day of sitting and standing, it needed one re-tie. If you prefer a fixed, structured waistband, this is the wrong short for you — not a flaw, just a design decision.
The listing publishes no flat waist or hip measurements, only a 1–2 cm tolerance. We had to rely on the listed size chart and our own tape. If you are between sizes, or your hip measurement matters more than your waist, ask the seller for flat numbers on the exact size you want. That is the single most useful thing you can do before ordering.
Fabric and wash log
The polyester is thin and standard-weight, exactly as described. It breathes acceptably in dry heat and feels clammy in humidity, which is normal for this fabric class. The listing's wrinkle-resistant, stain-resistant and colourfast claims are catalog statements, not something we can prove from three washes — but nothing we saw contradicted them.
| Cycle | Setting | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Wash 1 | 30°C, gentle, air dry | No visible change to print or colour |
| Wash 2 | 30°C, gentle, air dry | Seams flat, no pilling, drawstring intact |
| Wash 3 | 30°C, gentle, air dry | Print repeat still aligned; slight softening of the fabric hand |
Stains released easily in the sink before washing, and the shorts came out of the machine with almost no creasing. We do not have a long-term durability answer and will not pretend otherwise: three washes and roughly a week of wear is enough to judge fit and finish, not to promise a full season.
Value at $5.22
At this price you are buying a simple, loose, low-rise summer short with a printed surface and a drawstring. In that narrow job it works, and it works better than the price suggests — the cord held, the print stayed put, and the cut is comfortable. The deduction is for the listing, not the shorts: a pattern field that contradicts the product title is a real risk when you cannot inspect the item first, and the absence of published flat measurements shifts work onto the buyer.
How we tested
We ordered the green pair in size L, logged its weight and flat measurements, then wore it through timed hot-weather days and pulled the drawstring under stepwise load. Machine-washed three times at 30°C, air-dried, re-measured and photographed after each cycle.

Is this short printed or solid?
The listing contradicts itself: the title says all-over print, the pattern field says solid colour. Our size L green pair arrived printed, but we cannot confirm that for the apricot and black options. Ask the seller which version ships and request photos first.
Did the drawstring hold up under load?
Yes. In our stepwise pull test with the waistband held, the cord held without slipping or fraying, and the gathered waistband returned to shape. Over a full wear day it needed one re-tie.
How did it handle washing?
Three 30°C gentle washes, air-dried, produced no visible colour or print change and almost no creasing. The listing's wrinkle-resistant and stain-resistant claims remain catalog statements; three washes and a week of wear cannot verify long-term durability.
